NEWS RELEASE Shortly after 2:00 p.m. this afternoon, a lone white male entered the Regions Bank at 6705 Morganton Road in Greenback, Tennessee. He approached a teller, handed the teller a white paper bag, displayed a small silver handgun, and demanded money. The robber left on foot without obtaining any money. Witnesses described the robber as a white male, mid to late 20s, 5' 5" - 5' 7" tall, weighing less than 150 pounds, wearing a tan ball cap, a blue and white checked insulated flannel shirt, wrap-around sunglasses, and blue jeans. At 3:12 p.m., a man fitting the same description entered the BB&T at 710 South Foothills Plaza Drive, Maryville. He again approached employees, displayed a small silver semi-automatic handgun, and demanded money. He left on foot after obtaining an undetermined amount of money. He was last seen heading north away form the bank. Investigators found that the man had also entered the Home Federal Bank adjacent to the BB&T, but no robbery attempt was made there. Anyone having any information concerning this robbery and attempted robbery should call the FBI at (865) 544-0751, the Maryville Police Department's Crime Line at 865/380-1388, or the Loudon County Sheriff's Office at 865/986-9081. The public is cautioned not to approach this individual, but to immediately notify law enforcement of his whereabouts. The public is further reminded that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. |
