NEWS RELEASE


R. Joe Clark, Special Agent in Charge of the Knoxville Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Blount County Sheriff James Berrong, Loudon County Sheriff Tim Guider, Maryville Chief of Police Tony Crisp, and Knoxville Chief of Police Sterling Owen IV, announce the arrest today of Thomas J. Hunt, age 20, of Friendsville, Tennessee.

Hunt is charged with the robbery of the Regions Bank in Greenback, Tennessee on February 14, the attempted robbery of the same bank on March 13, and the robbery of the BB&T in Maryville on March 13, all of this year. Hunt was arrested by members of the above-named law enforcement departments at a residence in Blount County, Tennessee. The arrest was without incident.

It is anticipated that Hunt will appear before United States Magistrate Judge C. Clifford Shirley, Jr., this afternoon at the United States District Court in Knoxville, Tennessee.

The public reminded that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
