NEWS RELEASE This prestigious award, which was established by the Director of the FBI in 1990 to publicly recognize the achievements of individuals and organizations actively involved in community crime prevention, is given annually to one individual or organization from each of the FBI's 56 field offices. The 2006 Knoxville Division recipient, Ms. Alexander is the Director for Information Assurance and Cybersecurity Training at Fountainhead College of Technology in Knoxville, Tennessee. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Network Security and Forensics from Fountainhead College of Technology and is currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Education. Her responsibilities include developing and conducting cyber security awareness lectures and workshops for the general public, academia, and law enforcement. Additionally, Ms. Alexander holds numerous professional and technical certifications. She has published several professional articles and made over half a dozen community outreach presentations on the topic of cyber security during the past year. Among her numerous professional memberships and specific to the FBI's Cyber and Counterterrorism missions, Ms. Alexander serves as Vice President on the Board of Advisors for the Infragard Knoxville Members Alliance, which currently boasts 112 members. She is also a member of the Atlanta High Technology Crime Investigators Association (HTCIA) and Lesson's Learned Information Sharing (LLIS), the national network of lessons learned and best practices for emergency response providers and homeland security officials. In preparation for Cyber Security Summit 2006, Ms. Alexander served on the conference planning board. She was solely responsible for bringing the National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security presence to the conference. Co-hosted by Fountainhead College of Technology, the FBI, the University of Tennessee, and the Tennessee Valley Authority in October, 2006, the Second Cyber Security Summit brought together 200 security professionals from academia, government, and private industry to evaluate "Emerging Cyber Threats." Ms. Alexander served as Program Chair for Fountainhead College of Technology's "Cyber Night: Focus on Cyber Security Awareness" in both 2005 and 2006. In that capacity, she organized a student paper competition, professional presentations from local area cyber security experts, and the awarding of the annual Cyber Hero Award which is given to individuals or organizations who contributed significantly to cyber security awareness, education, or research. Based on her significant contributions to cyber security, Infragard, and the law enforcement community, specifically the Knoxville FBI, Ms. Alexander is enthusiastically awarded the 2006 Director's Leadership Award.
