FBI, KPD, and KCSO search for older man who has now robbed four banks in two states:
The Knoxville Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Chief of Police Sterling P. Owen, IV of the Knoxville Police Department (KPD), and Chief Deputy Tom Spangler of the Knox County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO), are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the man who robbed a Knoxville bank today. At approximately 11:30 this morning, a man entered the Tennessee Members First Federal Credit Union at 9307A Kingston Pike. He presented a note demanding money. After receiving an undetermined amount of money, the robber left the bank on foot. Witnesses described the man as a white male, in his mid-60s, with numerous wrinkles on his face, gray hair and wearing glasses. He had on a ball cap, a light colored short-sleeve, a brown leather belt with a large silver buckle, and blue jeans. The robber had a handgun stuck in his waistband at his left hip. He is estimated at 5’8” tall, and approximately 180 pounds. The same individual is believed to have also robbed the First Tennessee Bank on Cedar Bluff on October 1, and again on October 12 of this year. No firearm was observed during those earlier robberies. Investigators believe he also committed a bank robbery in Suwanee, Georgia on October 24 th. A late 90s to early 2000s red Chevrolet S-10 standard cab pickup may have been connected to the Georgia robbery.
