NEWS RELEASE

The Knoxville Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Police Chief Sterling P. Owen IV of the Knoxville Police Department(KPD) announce the arrest of Robert "Plunk" Bennett on federal drug and weapons charges.

Robert "Plunk" Bennett, age 36, resident of Knoxville, was arrested at approximately 5:30 p.m. on July 16, 2007, on Lay Avenue in East Knoxville. He was arrested by Special Agents of the FBI, officers of KPD, and members of the FBI's Safe Streets Task Force (SSTF). The arrest was for Distribution of a Controlled Substance (crack cocaine), Possession with Intent to Distribute, and Firearms violations. He will be provided an Initial Appearance in Knoxville this afternoon. The arrest occurred without incident.

All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
