NEWS RELEASE

The Knoxville Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Sheriff Edwin Graybeal of Washington County, Tennessee announce the extradition from Mexico today of Anselmo Lozano Sanchez.

Lozano Sanchez has been charged by Washington County authorities with Aggravated Sexual Battery on a Minor.  Based on information that Lozano Sanchez fled to Mexico after being released on bond, an arrest warrant was obtained through the federal judicial system charging Lozano Sanchez with Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution.

Lozano Sanchez' arrest and subsequent extradition from Mexico are the result of extensive coordination between the U.S. Attorney's Office in Knoxville, the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, the FBI Legal Attache office in Mexico City, and officials in Mexico.

Anselmo Lozano Sanchez is described as a forty-three year old Mexican national who has been residing in Guerrero, Mexico.  He was turned over to FBI Agents in Mexico by Mexican authorities on April 11, 2007.  FBI Agents will transfer custody of Lozano Sanchez to Washington County authorities at the Knoxville McGhee Tyson Airport this evening.

All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
