The Knoxville Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Chief of Police Sterling P. Owen, IV of the Knoxville Police Department (KPD), and Chief Deputy Tom Spangler of the Knox County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO), are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the man who robbed a Knoxville bank today.

At 11:03 this morning, a man entered the First Tennessee Bank at 324 N. Cedar Bluff Road. He presented a note demanding money and a bag to a teller. After receiving an undetermined amount of money, the robber left the bank on foot. Witnesses described the man as a white male, 60-65 years old, with gray hair and wearing glasses, he had on a dark ball cap, a light blue denim long-sleeve shirt over a striped polo shirt, and blue jeans. He had several days’ growth of facial hair but no actual beard or mustache. The same individual is believed to have also been the one who robbed the same bank on October 1 of this year. In the previous robbery, he claimed to be armed. No firearm was observed during either robbery.

Anyone with information is asked to call the FBI at 865/544-0751, or the KPD at 865/215-7212. The public is reminded not to approach the individual, but to contact law enforcement.
