Bobby Joe Phillips (Grandpa Bandit) arrested in Georgia:

The Knoxville Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Chief of Police Sterling P. Owen, IV of the Knoxville Police Department (KPD) announce that the man dubbed “The Grandpa Bandit” was arrested this morning in Perry, Georgia. According to Chief George Potter of the Perry, Georgia Police Department, one of his officers was driving through a Holiday Inn parking lot at 7:30 this morning and noticed the red Chevrolet S-10 pickup that was the subject of a BOLO (be on the lookout) placed by the Knoxville FBI office. The officer then noticed a man fitting the description of Bobby Joe Phillips approaching the pickup. The officer arrested Phillips without incident. The S-10 has been turned over to the Warner Robins, Georgia Police Department for processing. Phillips will be housed at the Houston County, Georgia jail. Investigation has identified Phillips as having robbed seven financial institutions: The First Georgia Community Bank in Covington, Georgia on September 20, 2007; the First Tennessee Bank on Cedar Bluff Road in Knoxville on October 1, 2007 and again on October 12, 2007; the SunTrust Bank in Suwanee, Georgia on October 24, 2007; the Tennessee Members 1st Federal Credit Union in Knoxville, Tennessee on November 1, 2007, and again on November 9, 2007, and a bank in Warner Robins, Georgia on November 8, 2007. The public is reminded that all defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
