NEWS RELEASE

The Knoxville Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Chief of Police for Knoxville, Tennessee, Sterling P. Owen IV, request the public's assistance in identifying the woman who robbed a Knoxville area bank this morning.

The alarm at the SunTrust Bank located at 9541 S. Northshore Drive activated at 8:12 a.m. A lone white woman, standing approximately 5'2" tall, weighing 90 pounds, entered the bank brandishing a black semi-automatic handgun. The robber was wearing a black scarf or shawl over her head which was attached with a broach. She was also wearing a white shirt, blue jeans, and tennis shoes. She demanded money in what was described as a foreign accent. After obtaining an undetermined amount of money from the teller, she left in a silver Volkswagen Jetta. Witnesses describe the car as having a Tennessee plate with the numbers covered by black tape, but the letters KDD were visible.

Anyone with information and/or the identity of the suspect is asked to call the Knoxville Division of the FBI at 865/544-0751, or their nearest law enforcement office. The public is cautioned not to approach this individual, but to immediately notify law enforcement of her whereabouts.

The public is reminded that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
