FBI, KPD, and KCSO arrest homicide suspect on I-40:

The Knoxville Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Chief Deputy Tom Spangler of the Knox County Sheriff's Office (KCSO), and Chief of Police Sterling P. Owen, IV of the Knoxville Police Department (KPD), and announce the arrest last night of Tyrone Kato Brown.

Brown, a twenty-three-year-old native of Chicago, was being sought by KPD on a homicide warrant. Working in conjunction with the KPD, the Knoxville FBI obtained an Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution warrant issued by the U. S. District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee. Information was then developed by the KCSO as to the location of Brown. A surveillance resulted which continued from Sevier County into Knox County. The arrest was effected by units of the KCSO, the KPD, and members of the FBI's Safe Streets Task Force at approximately 5:15 p.m. The arrest was made following a felony vehicle stop on I-40 West between the Cherry Street and Broadway exits. It was described as an arrest without incident.

The public is reminded that all defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
