FBI, KPD, and KCSO, as Part of the Safe Streets Task Force, and Other Units of the KPD Arrest David Taylor for Two East Tennessee Bank Robberies

The Knoxville Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Chief Sterling P. Owen IV of the Knoxville Police Department (KPD, and Sheriff Jimmy “J.J.” Jones of the Knox County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) announce the arrest today of David Taylor on federal Bank Robbery charges.

At approximately 1:00 this afternoon, a lone white male entered the FSG Bank at 1111 N. Northshore Drive in Knoxville. He presented a note demanding money. The note threatened violence to the teller. After receiving an undisclosed amount of money the man left the bank on foot. The robber was described as a white male, about 50 years old, wearing silver-framed sunglasses, a denim shirt, denim jacket, and blue jeans. Witnesses reported seeing the man in the vicinity of the Super 8 Motel at 6200 Papermill. Just fifteen minutes after the robbery, Taylor was arrested in the parking lot of the motel by members of the SSTF, and uniformed officers from KPD. The arrest occurred without incident.

David Wesley Taylor, age 48, with a Chattanooga address, was determined to already have a federal warrant issued against him for a similar robbery of the Suntrust Bank at 110 West 10th Street in Chattanooga, Tennessee on Tuesday, January 27, 2009.

The public is reminded that all defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
