FBI, KPD, and the KCSO, as Part of the Safe Streets Task Force, are Searching for Man Who Robbed a First Tennessee Bank This Afternoon

The Knoxville Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Chief Sterling Owen IV of the Knoxville Police Department (KPD) are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the man who robbed a Knoxville bank today.

At approximately 12:45 this afternoon, a man entered the First Tennessee Bank located at 4416 Chapman Highway in Knoxville, presented a note and threatened to have a bomb and a gun. Witnesses described the suspect as a black male, approximately 30 to 40 years old, approximately 6’ tall, stocky build, weighing 250 pounds. The suspect was wearing blue jean shorts, a white t-shirt, white tennis shoes, and a yellow ball cap with a dark piece of fabric underneath. After obtaining an undetermined amount of money, the suspect left the scene in a vehicle witnesses described as a white, 90s model, GMC or Chevrolet pickup truck.

A reward is being offered for any information which leads to the arrest of this individual. Anyone with information is asked to call the FBI at 865-544-0751 or the KPD at 865-215-7212. This matter is being investigated jointly by the FBI SSTF and KPD Major Crimes Unit.

All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
