FBI Director Honors Former Junior Special Agent

On 09/28/2009, Richard L. Lambert, Special Agent in Charge of the Knoxville Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) will deliver a personal congratulatory letter from FBI Director Robert Mueller to one of its most junior "agents." As reported earlier this summer, Holston Middle School student Parker Norton won over $22,000 on “Jeopardy! Kid’s Week.” Norton is receiving the recognition from the FBI, because in 2008 he was part of the FBI’s Junior Special Agent Program and upon graduation was awarded Junior Special Agent status.

The Junior Special Agent Program is part of the FBI’s Adopt-A-School initiative which provides opportunities for students to interact with FBI Special Agents and professional support staff while learning how to improve academically and to be good citizens. The initiative can be implemented in elementary, middle, or high schools and vary from one-on-one mentoring opportunities to 16-week structured programs. The Knoxville Division utilizes the 16-week structured program. Adopt-A-School programs are active in all 56 FBI Field Offices. 

SAC Lambert noted, “We are very proud of Parker and his accomplishments. Parker’s self confidence and dedication to academic achievement are emblematic examples of the character traits the Junior Special Agent Program strives to develop.”
