FBI, KPD, and KCSO, as Part of the Safe Streets Task Force,
Arrest a Man on Bank Robbery Charges

Ronald Jay Speller, age 44, of Chesapeake, Virginia, was arrested yesterday following a vehicle stop by members of the FBI Safe Streets Task Force (SSTF) and the Knoxville Police Department (KPD).

The arrest occurred without incident at the intersection of Henley and Clinch Avenue in downtown Knoxville. Speller is facing federal charges for bank robbery. He is suspected of robbing the Suntrust Bank inside Walmart at 3051 Kinzel Way, Knoxville. Speller is also suspected in the robbery of the Family Dollar Store at 2604 East Magnolia earlier in the day.

The public is reminded that all defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
