Multi-Agency Search Results in Capture of Fugitive Christopher Ellis
At approximately 5:00 p.m., Christopher Ellis was taken into custody following a multi-agency search effort. During a grid search, search teams discovered some personal property in a yard which appeared not to belong to the residents of the property. Further search of the area revealed evidence of a forced entry into the residence on the property. Upon entering the residence, search teams identified Mr. Ellis and took him into custody. The residents, who are in no way connected to the subject, were out of state at the time of the arrest.
Agencies who participated in today’s search effort included the Loudon County Sheriff’s Office, Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Knox County Sheriff’s Office, Roane County Sheriff’s Office, Blount County Sheriff’s Office, Maryville Police Department, Clinton Police Department, Lenoir City Police Department, and the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA).
Ellis was arrested on Federal charges filed in the Eastern District of Tennessee and faces possible additional charges for bank robbery.
The public is reminded that all defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
